> PHYSICAL BREAST EXAM
A physical breast exam is an examination of your
breasts by a physician, who feels for lumps or other abnormalities.
Why is it done?
Dr. Bertrand may do a physical exam of your breasts as part
of her diagnostic work-up. She may use this exam to help correlate mammogram
findings with the physical location of a lump. Or she may perform a physical
exam to confirm a lump that a women has felt, but which is not evident on a
mammogram.
Is this the same as the
clinical breast exam that my regular physician performs?
No. This exam should NOT replace
the clinical breast exam (CBE) that you receive from your regular doctor.
